Internship:

 

October 2010 saw the launch of a Gijima internship programme, in partnership with the Gauteng City Region Academy, the ISETT SETA and the Gauteng Department of Education, for one hundred interns. The programme is being implemented by the Gijima ICT Skills Development Division. The orientation and induction sessions were held at the SAB World of Beer conference centre in Newtown, Johannesburg.

 

The programme is focused on unemployed graduates and creates an opportunity for them to up-skill in the Open Source and Cisco environments. It also prepares them for the working world by enhancing their business skills through soft-skills training modules as well. The eight month programme will see the interns through classroom based training and workplace experience.

 

The curriculum is designed to give the candidates an edge in the Open Source environment which will expand their range of employment opportunities, particularly given that the Public Sector’s is steering into this environment. 

 

Client feedback on Internship:

 

February 2011 saw the launch of a Gijima ICT Skills Development Learnership programme in partnership with HP. The orientation and induction session was held at the SAB World of Beer conference centre in Newtown, Johannesburg.

 

The programme will involve the facilitation of training and workplace experience for one hundred learners. Fifty of these learners have recently completed matric, they will be on a Technical Support Learnership (NQF Level 4) and the other fifty learners will be completing a System Support programme (NQF Level 5).The Learnerships are being implemented by the Gijima HCM, ICT Skills Development Division.

 

The programme which focuses on unemployed candidates creates an opportunity to up-skill in the IT Support environment. It also prepares them for the working world by enhancing their business skills through soft-skills training modules. The twelve month programme will see the learners through classroom based training and workplace experience.

 

The curriculum is designed to give the candidates an edge in the IT environment as they will achieve a national qualification which will expand their range of employment opportunities. The qualification that will be attained by the learners is endorsed by the South African Qualifications Authority and will be verified by the ISETT SETA.

 

March 2012 saw the launch of a Gijima internship programme, in partnership with the Gauteng City Region Academy, the MICT SETA and the Gauteng Department of Education. The programme is being implemented by the Gijima ICT Skills Development Division and Group HR for one hundred and fifty interns. The orientation and induction sessions were held at the SAB World of Beer conference centre in Newtown, Johannesburg.

 

The programme is focused on unemployed graduates and creates an opportunity for them to up-skill in the Field Service Engineer environment. It also prepares them for the working world by enhancing their business skills through soft-skills training modules as well. The eight month programme will see the interns through classroom based training and workplace experience.

 

The curriculum is designed to give the candidates an edge in the IT Support Technician environment through the implementation of a CompTIA - A+ training programme. In addition the interns will be given an opportunity to write both the CompTIA -A+ exams which will expand their range of employment opportunities in both the private and public sectors.
